If that didn’t give you goosebumps, or at least have you cheering at the screen, check your pulse. I think I immediately fell in love with Van Jones when he brought up the fact that Donald Trump hadn’t immediately disavowed the Ku Klux Klan endorsement he received. It led to this exchange:
Van: “I know this man when he gets passionate about terrorism. I know how he talks about terrorism. The Klan is a terrorist organization…
Jeff: “A leftist terrorist organization.”
Van: “We’re not gonna play that game.”
Jeffrey Lord tried the old — and embarrassingly idiotic — tactic of claiming that the KKK was a leftist organization. Many imbeciles don’t understand that the Southern Strategy of the Republican Party brought racists from the south from the old Democratic Party to the new GOP. Insanely enough, though, Lord took it even further:
Jeff: “We’re all Americans, Van. You’re dividing people. This is what liberals do. You are dividing people by race. This is what liberalism is all about.”
Van: “The Klan divided people by race. The Klan killed people by race….”
Jeff: “And They did it to further the progressive agenda.”
Now that, I’ve never seen. Growing up as a liberal in the south, I saw innumerable people who believed the Democratic Party was directly connected to the KKK. I hadn’t ever seen, though, anyone quite dumb enough to claim the Klan had a progressive agenda.
Especially since they’re against abortion, same-sex marriage, immigration — you know, everything Republicans stand strongly against. Fortunately, Van shut this down with a history lesson.
